I wanted to take a moment to tell my brother and sister-in-law HAPPY 10th ANNIVERSARY!!!
WOW...on one hand it is so hard to believe that they have been married for this long but on the other is seems like Katie has been a part of the family for a lot longer.
There are many memories that I have of time with Russ and Katie so what better day to share some of those than on their anniversary.
- I remember the first time I went to Greenville College to see Russ...it was on a family weekend and Russ introduced Katie to us as..."This is the girl I was telling you looks like Susan." (FYI - Susan is a girl we grew up with.)*At this point Russ and Katie were not dating.
- The first time I found out Russ was dating Katie and let me tell you...I was not very pleased with Russ...because he did not tell me, I found out from his roommate Scott who had come home to visit for a long weekend or holiday with Russ.
- My best friend in high school was a couple of years older than me and she was going to look at G'ville and her family invited me to go along with them for the visit. I got to stay at the Spanish house with Katie and some of her friends. This was a lot of fun, but still wasn't 100% about this Katie character!!!
- Katie coming home with Russ for the first time. This was a weekend to remember...ARKANSAS vs. MICHIGAN in Basketball. It was not a pretty sight having blue and gold worn in our house. That weekend was also the first time that Katie told Russ she loved him. Many of you have heard this story because it is my dad's favorite story to tell. Russ and Katie went for a walk and they hadn't come home and in the middle of the night dad got in the car and went on a man hunt for them.
- Going to G'ville and sleeping on the floor of Katie's RA dorm room and working Agape Music Festival with Russ and Katie. Katie and I got to be the transportation for Newsboys and then worked in the Artist Tent.
- Engagement(which I was not a part of) but if you haven't heard the story you should ask Russ and Katie...it was pretty AMAZING!!!
- The week of the wedding. Mom and I went up early in the week to help get ready for the wedding. We helped Russ put together the programs for the wedding and I think he re-tie every little ribbon at the top of each program because mom and I didn't do them right. There was the very nice rehearsal dinner at the school. Then the wedding day...I remember that morning Russ, Mom and I went to the bank before the day really got started...only to find out the checks had been lost. **Checks were found.** Wedding and reception. The wedding was LONG and HOT and Katie those shoes were so uncomfortable to wear. (What kind of shoes can I make you wear when I get married???) The reception was so much fun with lots of food and dancing.
- This has to be one of my favorite stories!!! This happened not too long after Russ and Katie got married. Russ was in a band that traveled some (LP OUTSIDERS). I was in Greenville and Russ was going out of town so Katie and I were having a girls weekend. Katie and I stayed at a friends apartment for the weekend because he was out of town...we decided to cook dinner at the apartment. Poochie did not bother to tell us not to use the garbage disposal because it was broken...well, there ended up being food all under the sink that we had to clean up. The band ended up not going out of town because there was ice everywhere...but it was a great weekend after all we went through.
- There have been many fun times around the Arkansas Mohr's table...we love to play games and it NEVER FAILS that when we sit down to a late night game Katie and I end up laughing so hard we cannot breathe...and usually it is at something Russ or my dad says or does that really isn't funny to begin with.
- During their marriage they have lived in 3 different apartments (two of which were in the same building) and two houses...and about to try to move again.
- The Scottish Games at Forrest Park was an experience in and of itself that we got to experience together.
- There have been several girl times both in North Little Rock and St. Louis. Then there have also been a couple of brother/sister weekends that Russ and I have had the chance to share. The times that Russ and I have had just the two of us have been amazing!!!
- We have been through hard times together with deaths in our families and then the infertility process that they had to go through and then the whole adoption process...many nights of crying together wondering when Katie would be able to bring Lil' E home. But the good times have far outweighed the hard times!!!
- I know there are many other memories that did not make it on this blog and there are MANY MANY more memories to come!!!
Russ, I want to thank you for being the kind of big brother that every sister should have the chance to grow up with. I know we did not always get along and we still have those moments. But, thank you for always being a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, an encourager but most of all thank you for being one of my best friends!!!
Katie, Thank you for putting up with my brother for so long!!! You have been a voice of reason for me at times...you have been a good listener and a prayer. Thanks for the encouragement and support through out the years. You have not only been a wonderful friend but you have been my sister.
Can't wait to see how God continues to lead all of us!!!
Sorry for such a long post but I think it is worth it!!!

Thanks friend!! Please know I read this aloud to your brother while he dusted the house. Evidence of the first ten years going well. =)
We love you and can't wait to see you in a few weeks!
Aren't those St. Louis Mohrs the best?! Love the stories... didn't know about your dad going on a manhunt. I may need that story from him next time I'm in town!
